Nicky Romero

Nicky Romero, whose real name is Nick Rotteveel, was born on January 6th, 1989, in the charming town of Amerongen, Holland. His journey into the world of music began with a deep passion for drumming and an early career spinning house and R&B tracks, which eventually evolved into an unrelenting dedication to music production. His initial releases, picked up by boutique label Once Records, soon caught the attention of prominent labels like Spinnin', Fly Eye, Toolroom, and Flamingo Recordings.

As he refined his signature sound—a captivating fusion of progressive house with electro and acid elements—Nicky Romero took a bold step by releasing a bootleg of David Guetta's chart-topping hit, "When Love Takes Over." The track's online success drew the interest of none other than David Guetta himself, who became Nicky's mentor and advocate. Their collaboration led to multiple projects, including "Metropolis" and "Wild One Two." In the summer of 2012, Nicky Romero secured a residency at David Guetta's legendary FMIF club night at Pacha/Ushuaia Ibiza.

Today, Nicky Romero pays it forward with his Protocol brand, rapidly establishing itself as a leading platform in the dance music scene—a go-to hub for cutting-edge dance music. Through his record label, club night, and radio show, Romero champions emerging artists like Don Diablo, John Dahlback, Vicetone, Kryder, Michael Calfan, and Merk & Kremont, while also supporting established acts such as Calvin Harris, R3hab, Nervo, Krewella, and Bassjackers, among others. The label consistently sees its releases in the Beatport top 10, echoing its global impact. Furthermore, Protocol Radio, a weekly show syndicated to over 60 FM radio stations, garners over 40 million listeners every week and continues to expand rapidly.

Recent studio output includes "S.O.T.U.," a single released on Steve Angello's Size Records, the global hit "Legacy" with Krewella, his solo track "Symphonica," the UK #1 hit "I Could Be The One" with Avicii, and remixes for artists such as Zedd and Calvin Harris. Additionally, Romero has co-produced Rihanna's "Right Now" with David Guetta and worked on two tracks for Britney Spears. Whether it's an original track, a collaboration, or a inventive remix, his music consistently garners immense support from renowned figures in the dance music world.

Nicky Romero is not just a formidable producer but also a commanding DJ. Behind the decks, he mesmerizes crowds with his tenacity and room-commanding skills. His relentless international touring schedule includes notable events such as his North American headline tour, residency at The Light Las Vegas, performances at Coachella, Sensation White, and mainstage appearances at Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, and many more. One of his standout moments in 2013 was at Tomorrowworld, where he became the first DJ to perform equipped with Google Glass. In addition to his own gigs, he hosted Protocol Recordings label nights in Miami and Amsterdam, both of which were huge successes.

With accolades like his MTV EMA nomination for Best Dutch Act and his successful year in 2013, Nicky Romero continues to make an indelible mark on the music industry, deeply resonating with his dedicated fan base. Pushing forward relentlessly and backed by a new state-of-the-art studio, he embarks on the next phase of his career, with a debut album slated for 2014. With these plans and more on the horizon, the Nicky Romero brand is poised to evolve and mature, solidifying its status as an increasingly influential and revered presence in the global music scene.
