Skrillex

Sonny John Moore, who goes by the professional name Skrillex and was born on January 15, 1988, is an accomplished American record producer, DJ, singer, songwriter, and musician. Raised in Northeast Los Angeles and Northern California, his musical journey began when he became the lead singer of the American post-hardcore band From First to Last in 2004. He made significant contributions to the band, recording two studio albums with them: "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count" in 2004 and "Heroine" in 2006. However, in 2007, Skrillex decided to embark on a solo career, marking a turning point in his life.

In late 2007, he started his first tour as a solo artist. After assembling a fresh band lineup, Skrillex joined the Alternative Press Tour, where he supported well-known bands such as All Time Low and The Rocket Summer. His rise to prominence was underscored by his appearance on the cover of Alternative Press' annual "100 Bands You Need to Know" issue.

In 2009, Skrillex unveiled the "Gypsyhook EP." Originally, he intended to record his debut studio album, "Bells," with producer Noah Shain. However, he took an unexpected creative detour and began performing under the name Skrillex. Notably, he distributed the "My Name Is Skrillex EP" for free download on his official MySpace page. Subsequently, his career reached new heights with the release of the "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP" in late-2010 and the "More Monsters and Sprites EP" in mid-2011, both of which achieved considerable commercial success.

In 2011, Skrillex received five Grammy Award nominations at the 54th Grammy Awards, a testament to his growing influence in the music industry. He secured victory in three categories: "Best Dance/Electronica Album," "Best Dance Recording," and "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical." Furthermore, the BBC nominated him for their Sound of 2012 poll, and he was crowned MTV's Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year.

To date, Skrillex boasts eight Grammy Awards, solidifying his status as the Electronic Dance Music artist with the most Grammy wins. He's known for his collaborations with Diplo and Boys Noize, which led to the formation of the groups Jack Ü and Dog Blood, respectively.

A remarkable moment occurred on Skrillex's 29th birthday when he reunited with From First To Last and released a single titled "Make War." In 2017, he showcased his production and mixing skills by working on the eighth studio album for the rock band Incubus, aptly titled "8." That year, he released another single featuring the debut solo artist Poo Bear.

The future holds exciting prospects as Skrillex delves into the K-pop industry, collaborating with the girl group 4Minute. This endeavor is marked by the release of the track list and individual teaser images for the members, with the first track, "Hate," composed and arranged by Skrillex.

On January 15, 2017, Skrillex took to Twitter, wishing "Happy Birthday" and sharing a link to a new From First to Last song featuring his vocals. He even rejoined the band in Emo Nite LA for the first time in nearly a decade. In 2017, he continued to expand his musical repertoire, releasing songs like "Chicken Soup" with Habstrakt, "Would You Ever" with Poo Bear, "Saint Laurent" with DJ Sliink and Wale, and "Favor" with Vindata and NSTASIA.

In July 2018, Skrillex excited his fans by offering a glimpse of an upcoming collaboration with Missy Elliott through a snippet nicknamed "ID," although the release date for the single was yet to be announced.

On October 24, 2018, Skrillex teased the release of a song titled "Arms Around You" on Instagram. This track featured collaborations with XXXTentacion, Lil Pump, Maluma, and Swae Lee, and the full single was officially launched on October 25, 2018.

Furthermore, Skrillex has ventured into the world of video game music. He collaborated with Poo Bear and Japanese-American singer-songwriter Hikaru Utada to create the opening song for the video game "Kingdom Hearts III," aptly titled "Face My Fears." This epic collaboration was set to be released on January 18, 2019, marking yet another milestone in Skrillex's remarkable career.
